The Monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie - Leonardo’s Last Supper
Home to Leonardo da Vinci's most famous masterpiece
A UNESCO World Heritage Site housing "The Last Supper" — one of the most recognisable and studied artworks in human history.
The Church and Dominican Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned worldwide for housing Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" (Cenacolo Vinciano). Painted between 1495 and 1498, this monumental work depicting Christ's final meal with his apostles is considered one of the greatest masterpieces of Western art.
The painting is located in the refectory of the convent and has survived wars, restorations, and the passage of time. Due to its fragility, visits are strictly limited to small groups for 15-minute intervals, and advance booking is essential — often weeks or months ahead.
The church itself is a beautiful example of Renaissance architecture, with a stunning tribune designed by Donato Bramante. The peaceful cloisters and the sacristy, decorated with frescoes, are also worth exploring.
Walking distance from Lancaster Hotel: approximately 20 minutes.
