Fondazione Prada
A groundbreaking cultural institution for contemporary art
Where fashion meets art — Fondazione Prada is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking Milan's cutting-edge contemporary culture and striking architecture.
Fondazione Prada is one of Europe's most exciting contemporary art institutions, established by Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli in 1993. In 2015, the foundation opened its spectacular permanent Milan venue in a former distillery from the 1910s, transformed by renowned architect Rem Koolhaas and his firm OMA.
The complex blends seven original buildings with three new structures — including the striking "Haunted House" covered in 24-karat gold leaf and the four-storey "Torre" exhibition space. This architectural dialogue between old and new creates a unique setting for ambitious art exhibitions and cultural projects.
The foundation hosts rotating exhibitions featuring major contemporary and modern artists, as well as site-specific installations, film programmes, and philosophical discussions. The permanent collection includes works by artists such as Carsten Höller, Louise Bourgeois, and Damien Hirst.
Don't miss Bar Luce, designed by filmmaker Wes Anderson as a tribute to classic Milanese cafés. With its pastel colours, vintage pinball machines, and retro aesthetic, it's become one of Milan's most photographed spots.
Distance from Lancaster Hotel: approximately 15 minutes by taxi. Also accessible via Metro Line 3 (Lodi TIBB station).
